Animals, being conscious and responsive, have some similarities with human beings. There are many pet owners in this world who would quickly tell you that animals are unique and they are precious in their own identity, and they should certainly be loved and nurtured. There are people who think that animals cannot feel pain or because their intelligence is lower than human beings that they should not be given the care and nourishment that most pet owners generously give to them.

There are many people who believe that animals have no basic right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. These belief systems came from a wrong sense of righteousness and entitlement. When the cognitive biases are overcome, the reality that all animals do have rights becomes significant.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. Humans have been known to wreak havoc on some sensitive ecosystems in the world like turning rainforests into flat plains and coral reefs into ocean deserts. If we destroy the environment for human gain, then we are also destroying the only places which animals can call home. We can closely link the animal rights movement to the green movement because of this.

Using animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. Economic incentive makes this people think that it is alright to kill animals for the sake of gain. For example, elephants are killed for their tusks, sharks are killed for their fins, and other people who kill animals because of the commodity they get from it. A dollar sign has now replaced the basic rights of animals to live. There should be alternative to animal products if we want to preserve their rights to life without suffering.

The core beliefs of animal rights activities are guided by their unwavering morality. Here are the things that animal rights advocates believe in.

Animals are conscious beings, not machines or objects. There are also things that animals are interested in. Human beings should respect the interest of animals. Exploitation of animals by human beings is disregarding their rights. Human beings should not treat animals as objects. Humans have no right to kill animals.
